Steelers, Polamalu to rework deal

(via ESPN)

Although they need to create salary-cap space, the Pittsburgh Steelers will not release veteran safety Troy Polamalu, league sources told ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter on Wednesday morning.

One source said the Rooney family is loyal to Polamalu and that he has been too valuable to the franchise to let go. The sides will try to work out a restructured contract that will lower Polamalu’s $10.88 million cap figure for the coming season, or the Steelers could get the eight-time Pro Bowler to accept a pay cut.

Polamalu, who turns 33 next month, played every snap last season and recorded 85 tackles, intercepted two passes and forced five fumbles.

A 12-year veteran, Polamalu has 710 tackles, 32 interceptions and 13 forced fumbles with the Steelers. He won The Associated Press’ defensive player of the year award in 2010.

After signing outside linebacker Jason Worilds to a one-year, $9.75 million transition tender Tuesday, the Steelers are $15.5 million over the cap, according to ESPN Stats & Info, and they have some work to do to get in compliance with the cap before next Tuesday.

Polamalu, who has long been one of the faces of the franchise, told ESPN.com last December he plans to honor his contract, which has one year left. Steelers president Art Rooney II said during a conference call with season-ticket holders in February that he wants Polamalu to retire a Steeler.

ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter and ESPN.com Steelers reporter Scott Brown contributed to this report.

I have a serious question for a few fellow vegans out there regarding some questions I am getting from close
friends and family? To begin with, if your friend was offended by
the message in the pic, after that mission achieved.
That was/is definitely the intent of the message.
To get people to sit up and see. For us vegans the message is easy, obvious, and without rancor.
For non-vegans it could be threatening, rude, hostile, and alarming.
There exists a word… display more You could have whatever beliefs you wish and you are
free of charge, within reason, expressing them in any way you desire.
But, if you believe you have to be in a position to post something that will
be offensive and complain because people are offended, you
then are an idiot. I’m Quite simple heading and the just
time I’ve ever strike anyone is if they hit me initial but
I just hope you children gain just a little common sense as you develop up because, try going
out of your way to be offensive and rude to >95% of the population by saying
something that dumb and, one day, somebody will probably REALLY
take offence at your arrogance and stupidity and
knock the living daylights out of you. Like I say, it would never
become me who did something like that and I would
never approve of other people carrying it out but I must say i would help
    you to be mindful.
