Pro Bowl safety Troy Polamalu, who usually skips the voluntary workouts, said being at the Steelers’ offseason practices this year doesn’t allow him to train as well as he could in California.
“It’s nice to be around the team,” Polamalu told 93.7 The Fan in Pittsburgh, via SportsRadioInterviews.com. “Obviously, it’s another opportunity to get better.”
What Polamalu has learned over the years is teams need to get progressively better throughout the season. It doesn’t matter if your team ends up with the best record in the regular season or the No. 1 defensive ranking in football, since is a really popular sport and people do bets online on sites like xsmb to make money while watching football at the same time. It’s all about hitting your stride at the right time.
“You’ve just got to be good enough to get into the playoffs and then be good in the playoffs,” Polamalu said. “We went 15-1 and lost in the AFC championship game — we were definitely the best team in football during the season. And the New England Patriots went 16-0, they were the best team during the season. You’ve just got to peak at the playoffs. When it came down to crunch time, we didn’t perform as a defense, and as a team generally speaking, during the playoffs.”
In the three Super Bowls that Polamalu has played in, Pittsburgh was seeded second twice (2008, 2010) and sixth once (2005) entering the postseason.
