April Student of the Month Announcement

UPDATE: A note from Emily along with a photo of her receiving her gift basket have been added to the bottom of the post.

——————————-

Hey everyone,

I’d like to announce 12th grader Emily Courtney of Notre Dame-Cathedral Latin School as the student I’m honoring in April. Not only does Emily show great leadership, servitude and dedication at her school, but she goes above and beyond to lead and involve herself in many charitable causes out in the world as well. She’s no doubt an inspiration to those around her, and I hope she’s an inspiration to you as well. Please take a moment to read the submission sent in by her teacher, Mr. Douglass Murray, below for more on what a blessing she is to those around her.

Emily Courtney is the most profound, humble, and selfless student that I have ever taught in my twelve years of education. As a student in my Senior Theology, and Christian Leadership classes, Emily transforms content into a living experience. She is the VP of the student council, and is an active listener and servant to the needs of our school, community, and greater city. She created a Suzan G. Comen walk, is donating her hair to Locks of Love, is running the Kick-It for cancer game, organizing a Anti-Bullying website, while carrying an extensive schedule. One moment with her and you would be mesmerized by her poise, faith, and purpose. She wants to become a pharmacist and continue to reach out for the needs of others.

The integrity, faith, and passion that Mr. Polamalu has both on and off the field emulates the passion of Emily Courtney. Thank you for the opportunity to nominate her.

May God Bless you this Easter Season,
Mr. Douglas Murray

I have sent Emily the gift basket pictured right as a gift of appreciation for her great character.

Much thanks to Douglass for sending in his submission about Emily, and thanks to everyone who wrote in and participated this month. We’ll be doing this again next month, so look out for an announcement early May for a chance to get your submission in for that month.

God bless,
Troy

Dear Troy, along with friends and family,
I honestly cannot say thank you enough for the incredible privilege you have given me in recognizing what I try to do. The fact that this is such an honor and that I am beyond words is an understatement. Genuinely, your kind words and thoughtful gestures mean so much to me.
Thank you all again, and I truly love you.

    Troy,

Thank you for recognizing students that go above and beyond. To say that I am proud of my daughter would be a natural response, but I would also like to add that she is an extraordinary young woman. She has taught her mother many life lessons, and has demonstrated to me what it means to be truly selfless.
    Thank you, again.

Thank you, Troy, for reaching out to students our age in this unique way. It is comforting to know that there are people like you who believe in and promote the success of our generation!

Does the student have to be in high school and/or nominated by a teacher? If not, I know an amazing college student!
