Was a Cold Night to Remember.

Last weeks’ twitter contest revolved around doing a random act of kindness for the less fortunate.  Our winners were able to attend an amazing game that came down to the wire.  Not to mention brave a hostile crowd and did we mention the COLD.

We start with @blendenbuko who didn’t just give once last week but four straight days to show her appreciation for the less fortunate.  She braved the cold all the while keeping her hopes up that the Steelers would find a way to pull this one out.

When it almost came time to tap out – something insane happened.  The crowd went absolutely quiet.  Troy had single-handedly changed the outcome of the game.  The entire stadium was in absolute shock and you could here the wind whipping against people’s faces while they were just staring in amazement.

Our other winner was Ron Becker  / @Becker2017 aside from giving back earlier in the week had a special story to share that night.   Ron had a special guest in attendance with him – His friend Wayne Talley.  Wayne was the reason Ron became a Steelers fan.  Best friends since they were young Ron moved across town and they both lost touch.  Last time they saw each other was when they were 12 years old.

Flash forward 25 years year later and an online search to find Wayne was frustrating at best until Ron found an picture online of a little girl that looked eerily similar and found Wayne.  25 years later the friends were reconnected and found out they live only 2 miles apart.

Later in the week Ron joins twitter, follows Troy and gets details on the contest.  Ron reached out to Wayne to see if they could work together to give back and win the tickets so that they could attend together.  The rest was history.

Check out the picture below, and stay tuned for more contests.

That’s awesome. I was there for this game, very intense crowd, very proud to be wearing my black and gold but can say the B-more crowd was fired up but wen’t easy at least on me. Glad Heath did not break his neck. I had a feeling Troy was going to make a pick and be the reason we won this game and he did. Troy is such an amazing player and person, so proud to say he is a Pittsburgh Steeler.

I wear my #43 jersery every time the Steelers play! It is my dream to meet Troy and his family and see a Steelers game! I have met some of the former Steelers players at the John Stallworth Golf Tournament in Huntsville, Alabama. I am a die hard Steelers and Troy Polamalu fan!! That game was awesome!!

Wow! What a wonderful story! It’s amazing how you looked for years and he was only 2 miles away. God works in mysterious ways. Troy is a fantastic player! I have never seen anyone run and jump as well as he does! I’m proud to have him as part of our Steeler Team and as an American! Thank you Troy and God Bless!

it just goes to show, that there are still genuine people out there. kindness of the heart will always trump a win or loss. troy, you are the symbol of kindness and good that this world could always use a lil bit more of. i’ve been a steelers fan right out of my mother’s womb in ’73. my heart bleeds black and gold, but melts with the simple act of doing a good deed for a total stranger without expecting anything in return. thank you, troy, for being on “our” team and representing the Steeler Nation.

I love the story about the beautiful childhood best friends. I believe that childhood friendships help mold and shape who we become as adults. We may lose touch through our life’s journeys and choices. However, connecting again…is the Spirit’s manifestation of what happens when we’re consciously aligned with real love! I’ve connected again with precious people from my childhood as well at the right time to share my experiences with the manifestation of healing, that it empowers my childhood buddies to believe and allow healing to manifest in their bodies as well. We’re all connected! It’s the love that aligns us with the wonderful experiences of which there’s so much more of! Of all things…first, LOVE! Thanx again Troy for being a beautiful soul….(RevArielAsriel)

I had my very first chance to see my favorite team (STEELERS!) play last year in preseason. My guy got me some tickets for our annivesary and we watched you all play against Carolina (and win mind you) I would be at every game if I had it my way. (we lil ones can dream cant we?)

Troy is an amazing player, I have to agree with Monika on that one. So many beautiful hearted men on this team, So many reasons to love our Boys! <3

Wasn’t at the game but quietly watched, (my husband was asleep in bed) as the Steelers played tirelessly, never quitting, and playing as one unit. The Steelers are one AWESOME TEAM!! Sorry that our men were injured and hoping they’re recuperating well. However, can you just see me jumping up and down and yelling without sound with only 39 seconds left and Steelers having the ball? I love you Steelers. Thanks Troy and all the rest of the team.

Troy, your desire to help others and bring out the best in all of us is amazing. I am so inspired by your actions and words. I hope to be a winner of one of your contests one day. My budget doesn’t allow for travel from Albuquerque to a Steeler game but once a year if I am lucky. However, I cheer from home like I am in the stadium. Enjoy picking the winners and good luck for the remainder of the year. I can’t wait to here what the Super Bowl Contest will be since I know that is where the Steelers are headed.: )

Troy is the BEST..You can always count on Troy to pull the Steelers to a win, he truly is an amazing Football Player, and person. I am proud to be a Steelers and Troy Fan 100%. I also am a fan of Troys old HS in Winston Oregon and was hoping they would win the Football State Championship, they went to the end, but didn’t win, but they have as well an amazing coach which I believe is Troys Cousin. My son plays for South Umpqua HS and Douglas is there Rivial, but my son loves going to Douglas HS everytime they play them and look at the show case in the school of Troy..lol..He wants to be like Troy, he really idols Troy!! Keep up the awesome job Troy..

Not sure if you get a chance to read these, Mr. Polamalu, But I just want to thank you. The first reason is selfish…I’m a born Pittsburgher who has lived in Baltimore for twenty years. I wear my black and gold proudly and take my abuse from the locals. My car has been key-scratched more times than I can tell you because it sports Steelers decals (magnets get stolen). Your big play this weekend made my life a lot easier.

But I also want to thank you for the exemplary way in which you lead your life. We need more role models. I know that’s not the way you wish you were perceived, but you are. My two daughters wear your jersey with pride. Not just because you play for the best football team on the planet, but because you lead a life of quiet example. I am proud to be a Steeler fan, annd proud that you are one of our greatest.

Troy, your amazing football prowess is overshadowed by your open heart and kindness. Thank you for giving these people this opportunity. As a Steelers fans living in Eagles country, I’m always overjoyed to hear about the love of Steelers Nation, not only for our team but for each other. My favorite childhood memories are of the games I attended with my father, a true die-hard fan. Keep the love coming, and you’ll continue to get it back tenfold. GO STEELERS!

Well I can’t say that my story is as heart touching as finding a long lost friend, but I can say that every Steelers game you will find me dressed up in my Steelers best cheering like a cheerleader the Steelers don’t have. I love my boys.. all of them. I am proud to say that I am a Steelers fan.. I am sure it comes easier for me to say than some because Kentucky doesn’t have an NFL team to support, but if we did you could guarantee that I would still be like the mother in the childrens book saying “I will love you forever, I will love you for always, as long as I am living a Steelers Fan I will be”. – Crystal

@ Lisa Garcia, I agree with everything you say about feeling inspired by all of Troys actions and words, Troy you are truly an angel sent from God, everything you do on the field and off is amazing, my budget doesn’t allow me to travel from Phoenix either, however I started a savings to make it to a game in Pittsburgh by next years new season, I want to experience the feeling of being at a football game when it’s cold and windy and maybe even snowing (haha) but that is one of my wishes.
Happy Holidays to all the Steeler Nation!! Sixburgh Sevensylvania!!!!!!!

What an awesome story. I’ve been a Steeler fan since th 70′s. Tory is one of the greatest that has ever played for that team. Off hte field he is so amazing in his giving to others. I live in Redskin/Baltimore country, however, when I were my #43 jersey in public I get suck great comments and hand shakes from people. I t makes me feel proud as though this is my son’s jersey number o\f or the Steeler’s. Troy I don’t know if your parent’s are around , but they have an awesome son.
