The Steelers take the Bengals 27-21

Now that was a Monday night game.  The Steelers improved to 6-2, joining the Ravens in first place in the AFC North, but there was some disappointment surrounding the nearly disastrous fourth quarter.

“It’s disappointing that we let them back into the game, but it’s very encouraging that we were able to hold them,” said Steelers strong safety Troy Polamalu. “Last year, we were in the same situation and didn’t pull it out.”

With the Steelers winning the coin toss and deferred to the second half. Bernard Scott got the kickoff and fumbled at the Cincinnati 25. Pittsburgh needed only four plays to score, with Rashard Mendenhall pushing the final yard for a 7-0 lead.

“The defense held strong,” said Ben Roethlisberger, who was 17 of 27 for 163 yards with a touchdown and an interception that helped the Bengals rally at the end.

The Steelers lost two offensive linemen on a second-quarter drive.  Chris Kemoeatu hobbled off the field with an injured right ankle, and Center Maurkice Pouncey limped off with an injured right leg two plays later.  He was able to return in the second half,  but due to a neck injury we lost left tackle Max Starks in the third quarter.

With the backups in place, the Steelers managed to stay ahead and Roethlisberger threw an 8-yard touchdown pass to Hines Ward.

With just one minute left in the 4th quarter we got to see Terrell Owens get blown up by our very own Troy Polamalu.  Check out the video included below:
