Mr Polamalu,

Just like to say I'm a fan of the Steelers (have been since the 70's) and a great fan of Troy (Go #43!!) I'm glad you are a part of the team, thanks for putting your heart into what you do. As a person, you are a breath of fresh air with your humility, honesty, and Christ-like demeanor. What a good model you are for today's youth. Stay strong (take care of that ankle) and keep doing what you do.

God Bless,
~ Mike

Dear Troy Polamalu,

Greetings. I'm excited to read through this article and hear about what God has done in your life. Thank God for your awesome testimony on the field and off. I'm a Tongan, 2nd generation, currently in Dallas, Texas, studying at Dallas Seminary. I grew up in a Tongan church, non-denominational, went to a Baptist college, now at non-denominational seminary. On weekends here, we see teens from Euless Trinity High School team, where many Tongans, and some Samoans attend, and have Bible studies.

I'm aware that you are a hero figure and idol to many of the 2nd, 3rd, 4th generations of Polynesians here in the United States and abroad. It brings joy to my heart to see the faith and maturity that you have in the midst of the popularity and demands of our culture/world.

I have a couple questions for you, if you don't mind answering: you said in your faith journey that you were searching for "one truth":
Are you referring to one true church (denomination)?
If so, are you implying that other Christian churches are "false"?
(Mormonism, Muslim and other cults are non-Christian, I accept that)
What are the emphasis of the Greek Orthodox faith?
Do you believe salvation is found in the church or in Christ alone?
(Cyprian of Carthage wrote that "there can be no salvation for anyone except in the Church." I would agree that Cyprian was referring to the Church because of it's association to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.)

I believe that many young folks are looking for truth and identity, as the Paul Apostle said, "In Christ" is where he found his identity. I hope to sit down with you one day and learn more about your faith journey. Thank you for your time and for your humility. God be in you and your walk to becoming more Christ-like.

By His grace,
Lavoni Moala.

i've read a lot of stories as you were growing up and it seems like this was not an easy task as a parent to let your child go so young, but on the personal level are you close with them now?
