I enjoyed the earlier Student of the Month entires enough that I would like to do something else that opens up this opportunity to more people. I’d like to honor an outstanding person this month based on their great example of citizenship. If you are a human, you are eligible to nominate someone else.
Anyone may submit a nomination by listing your name, street address, as well as the name and contact information of your nominee, and no more than 300 words as to why your nominee should be November’s Citizen of the month. Please place both the nominee’s name and the current month in the subject line of your email and send it to citizenofmonth@troy43.com between the 15th and the 21st of this November. The nominees will be screened for me so I won’t even see your submission if you don’t follow these instructions precisely. I’ll read through finalists and announce one winning nomination to be posted at the end of the month on Troy43.com along with the yet-to-be-announced winner of the Student of the Month contest. The selected winner will be awarded something nice from me.

I would like to nominate my mom “Irene Werley” for citizen of the month. She is the greatest, caring person in the world. She is 73 and works part time for a Assisted Living Facility caring for people who need help and just being a ear for someone to talk to. She would do anything for anyone and would definately help you if she can. She took care of my disabled father for many, many years till he passed away 4 years ago and before that she took care of my grandfather and my grandmother. I now live with her along my my 2 children and I help her when she needs help, but she does pretty much everything on her own. There were some dramatic problems with my 16 yo daughter and good old mom was there when I needed her. You can count on her for anything and that is why my mom should be citizen of the month!

I would like to nominate my mom Mary A.Durrah/as the hardest working volunteer i know. She feeds the hungry, she speaks up for animals that are not bein treated right, she is always on call to help who ever needs her.If she is feeling bad, she will get up and go anyway. She had gotten blessed with a little money, and everybody was there as long as she was giving, including her church, she has been in the hospital twice this year and none of them went to visit her, when she was better, she went right back there. She said the homeless people need her.She just moved to a smaller place, no one would help from the church, she is the best.

I will gladly nominate my stepson: Corporal Joshua D Bailes of the United States Marine Corps! He is currently in Afghanistan on his third deployment in three years. He is a 0311-infantry. What they call a groundpounder—a grunt, what everyone thinks of when someone says “Marine”. Of course I am biased, but I think Josh should be the one on the poster or the side of the semi going down the road that shows a Marine. He has only been home for a few holidays the last few years and it is a bummer to all of the family worrying about him. In five months his life in the Corps wlll come to an end, but my new found respect for him will never end knowing exactly what he has given up to serve this great country. thank you

I would like to submit one Anita Sohn who with her husband runs a home for boys in Pilot Point, TX. She, in spite of battling cancer for a very long time, teaches troubled young men through her organization. She never complains and fights on through the aches and pains to continue helping these young men. She is a trooper and I respectfully nominate her.

I would like to nominate my husband, Robert Tozier. He is the most dedicated teacher I have ever seen. In 1999 he designed a website to teach students about music and visual arts. The site offers nine music classes, a photography class, multimedia classes, and provides a safe, monitored place for the students to display their own work. Bob’s vision is to empower the students by allowing them to work at their own pace and ability level. Due to the design of the site, students with special needs are able to do wonderful things, as are the other students who take the classes. They are offered free of charge to any student and/or district who would like to use them. In 2007, Bob changed Yo Soy Artista (www.yosoyartista.net) into a nonprofit organization so that it would be open to the public. He has done all of this because he believes in children, believes in education, and believes that anyone can succeed with the right tools and support.
Bob is always willing to help anyone and everyone whenever he is needed. He helps at church, volunteers to help other teachers in the district with their computer needs. He helps the parents understand the music program and works tirelessly to better the educational opportunities for the students. He trains (at no cost) the teachers in his district and other districts as far away as Omaha, NE. He helps people design websites, set up their personal computers, and repair their homes. He is a wonderful friend, a warm and supportive father, and a great husband. Bob and I also take rescue animals who are on the verge of being put down and keep them until they die of natural causes (we have had six since we got married 13 years ago).
Bob is a phenomenal man who has an unlimited amount of faith and patience. He is innovative and intelligent and is able to see the good in everyone. He works incessantly but still manages to be there for everyone who needs him. He truly deserves this honor.

Fiatagata Sima Memea
Well, I missed this opportunity to vote for my son, Mo Timali Memea, because today is November 28, 2011. But anyways, he met you at Romie Fiso’s weddding in SLC, UT, a couple of years ago. Most of his formal education was in Bismarck, North Dakota, instead of Tacoma, Washington, where he was born. Because of the domestic violence abuse situation that we were in, I took my children and fled, that area. Ended up in Bismarck, ND, and there I raised my 3 biological children. Mo, was diagnosed with ADHD, so along with medication and therapy, I enrolled him in several sports, to include; football, ice hockey, wrestling, swimming, tennis, basketball, but his passion was football. Besides that, when I volunteered in the community for the various charity organization, I volunteered my children, too. Now that he is older, he is following that volunteerism spirit, by visiting a local nursing home, and helping out in whatever they need help with. He does mostly the dances, the ladies like to line up to dance with him. They resident’s look forward to his visit’s. But he is a student at Weber State University, Ogden, UT, and is due to graduate this Spring 2012. Thanks for your example, graduating from college and a great football player!!!
