The Steelers win 35-3
After last weekend this was the type of game the Steelers fans didnt want to miss. With fights breaking out at the conclusion of almost every play, and penalties popping up all over the place there was NEVER a dull moment.
The Steelers defense just wouldn’t stop and it seemed that the Raiders offense just couldn’t get started. The Steelers (7-3), still tied with Baltimore for the AFC North lead, were motivated by last week’s 39-26 home-field loss to New England and last year’s 27-24 defeat to Oakland that all but ruined their season.
Troy also played his best game in quite some time. Troy had 6 tackles, one interception, and at least one other pass defended. He was able to return the ball to the Steelers 46 making this game just plain ugly for the Raiders.
Several seconds after Roethlisberger’s 22-yard touchdown pass to Emmanuel Sanders, things reached a boiling point. Raiders defensive end Richard Seymour slapped Ben Roethlisberger in the jaw with an open hand for no apparent reason well after the play was over, displaying only how frustrated the team was with getting worked all through this game.
“It blew my mind,” Roethlisberger said.
“I’ve never seen a quarterback get punched since I’ve been in this league,” Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said.
Roethlisberger completed 18 of 29 passes for 275 yards, helping the Steelers improve to 7-3 for the first time since 2008. The Steelers play at Buffalo (2-8) on Sunday before their rematch with Baltimore.
